TICKET - BOXSTOCK The UK Cigar Box Guitar Festival® 2023

Product Description

It's happening again, the one and only BOXSTOCK, The UK Cigar Box Guitar Festival®!

Saturday 20th May 2023

We've held the price the same as last year, and we have a cool new venue. It's the Halton Turner Brewing Company, in Digbeth, Birmingham, right in the middle of this up and coming alternative arts, media and entertainment quarter.

It runs from 12 noon 'til 12 midnight. From noon - 5.30pm it's free entry, then the evening gig is £15.00 (doors open 7.30pm).

During the day we'll have trade stalls, demos, open mic. and showcase music performances.

For the evening we've got this great lineup:

  • Dots

  • Chickenbone Blues

  • Bobster

  • Phillbilly O.M. B.

As the venue is a brewery, there will of course be a great selection of beers, brewed on the premises, plus food from the in-house kitchen and street food in the courtyard.

Please note, tickets will be sent out nearer the date of the event.

Here’s some information which we hope you might find useful. Please note these are not endorsements or recommendations for places to stay etc, just some suggestions and  general advice based on our knowledge of the city.  If you have any questions that aren’t answered here about parking, hotels etc. please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.

VENUE
Halton Turner Brewing Company
40 Trent Street
Birmingham
B5 5NL

The venue is within easy walking distance of the city centre. The venue is ground floor with level access.

GETTING THERE
BY RAIL - this is probably the most convenient option.
New Street Station is 15 minutes walk from the venue
Moor Street Station is 12 minutes walk from the venue

BY COACH
Digbeth Coach Station is 5 minutes walk from the venue.

BY ROAD
The venue is inside the Birmingham Clean Air Zone. To check if you need to pay the charge, check your vehicle registration here: https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones.
The charge is £8.00 per day if your vehicle doesn’t comply - we advise checking, and if necessary paying in advance thru’ the above government website.

HOTELS
We suggest you may be best to stick to the better known chains such as Travelodge, Premier Inn, Ibis, Holiday Inn etc. There are a number of city centre branches of these such as:

Clayton Hotel 85 Albert Street, Birmingham B5 5JT
Easy Hotel 81-91 John Bright Street, Birmingham B1 1BL
Travelodge Moor Street, Carrs Lane, Birmingham B4 7SS
Travelodge Central Bull Ring, Upper Dean St, Birmingham B5 4SG
Premier Inn Waterloo Street, 3-6 Waterloo St, Birmingham B2 5PG
Pemier Inn New Street Exchange Buildings, Stephenson Place, Birmingham B2 4NH
Ibis New Street Station Arcadian Centre, 21 Ladywell Walk, Birmingham B5 4ST

Here are a few more “alternatives” you might want to check out:

Birmingham Central Backpackers  - for the adventurous and budget conscious, literally just 150 metres round the corner from the venue.

The Old Crown - rooms at Birmingham's oldest pub, 10 minutes walk away from the venue.

Moseley Arms - another pub 15 minutes walk away from the venue.

If you are staying further out of the city centre, you have the option of using public transport to get to the city centre, with a short walk to the venue, or take an Uber, or drive in and then park.  Here are some suggestions for hotels a bit further away from the venue but still in the city centre:

Travelodge Birmingham Central, 230 Broad Street B15 1AY
Hampton by Hilton, 200 Broad Street B15 1SU
Holiday |nn Express ,19 Holliday Street, B1 1HH
Radison Blu, 12 Holloway Circus B1 1BT

PARKING
Please remember that the venue is close to Birmingham city centre, so parking will be relatively expensive and may also be difficult to find close to the venue on the off-chance, unless you pre-book.

We suggest a few parking places near the venue, but you can also check out  via online sites, and we strongly advise considering  pre-booking to remove the uncertainty of trying to turn up on the day and finding somehere close to the venue.

For day visitors there are plenty of surface car parks in the area which will be open through the event. We feel these will be as reasonably secure as any comparable inner city non-secured car parking, but we would advise against overnight parking in unattended facilites.

If you are using one of the city centre multi storey car parks, please check to make sure that you can get your vehicle out after 12 midnight, as some of them close overnight. These are some of the local car parks:

Green Parking, Oxford Street B5 6DY https://www.green-parking.co.uk/digbeth-car-parking-site/
New Canal St, Birmingham B5 5QX
The Brolly Works, 78 Allison St, Birmingham B5 5TH

For customers outside the UK

Please note that tax and duty may be charged in your country and requires payment before the goods are released to you. It is your responsibility to deal with this. Please note we have no control over the process. There is often a minimum value before tax and duty are charged and advise you to check the value at which tax and duty become due, to ensure that you are willing to pay these additional charges.

If you are ordering outside the UK please take note the currency in use is £ (pound sterling).

Please be aware that if you purchase a product using PayPal that contains a La Aroma de Cuba box (guitar, kit etc) due to the item having the word Cuba in there may be a delay with the payment going through the system as PayPal is an American company and so has to abide by USA laws, regardless of where the item is being shipped from and to.
