Amother guitar built for an existing customer to his requirements. He'd already bought one of my 3 string diatonic fretted guitars and wanted a four string‚  so this is effectively a short scale dulcimer played guitar style. It's turned out very nice‚ and with a remarkably loud acoustic volume..so more of these to come...when I can get the boxes.

Semi-acoustic oilcan guitar

Made in the tradition of South African OlieBlick guitar‚ with full acoustic body and soundhole.  The internal bacing is totally my own design of a double layer sprung spruce system. Domino P90 type pickup and floating bridge.

Cookie Tin Ukulele

I love ukes‚  - easy to play and fun...so I had to have a go at making one..Turned out nice again!. The open headstock is inspired by the 'Fluke' ukuleles‚ and it's fitted with a stainless steel resonator back. I also make cigar box ukuleles.

Stella Resonator Guitar

I take an old USA-made Stella‚ and rebuild it into a resonator‚ with a National style cone. The result is a great sounding wood body resonator guitar‚ ideal for blues and slide. These are birch bodied‚ maple neck‚ with a new top‚ soundwell and neckstick‚ and are fitted with a Continental cone and maple biscuit.

4 String Reso Tenor guitar

Mahogany body with a Continental uke cone and custom wood coverplate. These can be tuned as a tenor guitar (in 5ths rather than 4ths as in a conventional guitar‚ or put into an open tuning. I also make nickel-plated coverplate and 3 string versions.

Honda Kart Engine guitar..choke for the bridge p/u

From my other hobby‚ I had a few spares in my garage that were surplus to requirements.  Hey Presto - the GX160 Kart Engine guitar...the choke lever selects between bridge and neck pickups.

Tenor resophonic box guitar

Custom built to order...roughsawn reclaimed timber box with an amber French polish washcoat finish and oil finished tenor banjo style neck.  This one is for a player with an English morris dance side (I beleive this is the correct term for a troupe of morris dancers).

Strumstick cigar box guitar

I love these little 3 string guitars - what sets them apart are their dulcimer type tuning (G-D-G) and the diatonic fretting.  Diatonic is simply major scale (do-re-mi etc). These two things combined means they sound great with a sort of melody / drone sound‚ and the fretting makes it impossible to play a wrong note!

DeepTone fretless cigar box guitar

I'm loving these guitars‚ not a true baritone‚ but tuned quite low on a regular guitar scale neck. Fretless‚ set up for a combination of slide and fingered playing and combined with a piezo pickup gives a great nasal double bass sort of tonality. Along with the diatonic fretted guitars‚ these are my current favorite instruments.

Made to order from a nice resonant Spanish Cedar box‚ and some salvaged mahogany for the neck. Fluke style open headstock and passive piezo pickup. Lovely featherweight little uke‚ and like all my instruments‚ totally playable and practical.

Minstrel fretless banjo

Built for a customer‚ and I must admit I was only dimly aware of these instruments. It's in the style of a mid 19th century instrument‚ but not an exact reproduction. I've been fairly pragmatic about using a tunable hand drum with a Mylar head‚ but stayed true to the overall ethos with ebony fiddle pegs‚ a tied-on tailpiece and the neck finished with gunstock oil. I must make one for myself and learn how to play it!  I had to do a fair bit of research to get the overall thing soemthing like‚ but as I say‚ it's intended to be in the style of rather than a slavish copy.
